CrowdStrike Bets $495M on AI Agent Security
CrowdStrike will acquire Fiddler AI and Dreadnode in deals reportedly worth $495 million, and launched a Falcon Guardian AI Kill Switch for rogue agents.
CrowdStrike is making its biggest bet yet on securing AI agents. The cybersecurity company announced on November 3, 2026, at its Fal.Con Europe event in Barcelona, that it has signed definitive agreements to acquire two AI security startups, Fiddler AI and Dreadnode, in deals reportedly worth a combined $495 million. Alongside the deals, CrowdStrike launched an AI Kill Switch that lets security teams stop a rogue AI agent in its tracks.
Two acquisitions, one goal
The two startups cover different parts of the AI agent lifecycle. Fiddler AI, founded in 2018 and based in Palo Alto, builds software that monitors and explains what AI agents do once they are running in production. CrowdStrike will sell that technology as Falcon Observe, with general availability planned for its fiscal fourth quarter of 2027. Dreadnode, founded in 2023, takes the opposite angle: it tests AI models, applications and agents before they reach production, running more than 100 attack strategies against them, including jailbreaks and prompt injection. Its technology will be built into Falcon Guardian, and its engineers will join CrowdStrike's Cyber Superintelligence Lab. The Wall Street Journal reported the price split at roughly $400 million for Fiddler and about $95 million for Dreadnode. CrowdStrike itself did not disclose the purchase prices, but said both deals will be funded mostly in cash, with a portion in stock subject to vesting conditions. Both transactions are expected to close in CrowdStrike's fiscal fourth quarter of 2027, which ends January 31, 2027, subject to customary closing conditions.
What the AI Kill Switch does
The AI Kill Switch lives inside Falcon Guardian, CrowdStrike's product for catching rogue AI agents. It gives an authorized administrator the power to terminate an agent that strays from its instructions, block it from relaunching on a targeted host or group, and cut off its access to the enterprise network. Administrator actions are recorded in audit logs. Unlike the acquired technologies, which still need to be integrated, the Kill Switch is available now. CrowdStrike says termination currently starts at the gateway, with endpoint termination coming soon. CrowdStrike also announced a partnership with Lovable to bring visibility into AI-built applications into Falcon Shield, helping security teams spot publicly accessible apps, sensitive-data risks and access permission problems.
Why this matters now
AI agents are moving from experiments to real work inside companies, and that creates a new kind of risk. An agent with access to tools, data and systems can act on its own, and a mistake or a prompt injection attack can turn into unauthorized transactions, leaked data or security breaches. Until now, most security tools were built for human users and traditional software, not for autonomous agents. CrowdStrike's move is part of a wider race. The company already made two priced acquisitions in January 2026, SGNL at $740 million and Seraphic at a reported $420 million, and the Fiddler and Dreadnode deals extend that strategy directly into the agent layer. The message is clear: as agents take on more work, controlling them becomes as important as building them.
What happens next
The deals still need to close, and the real test will come when Falcon Observe and the Dreadnode testing tools reach general availability in early 2027. For now, the Kill Switch gives CrowdStrike customers an immediate emergency brake, while the acquisitions fill in the two missing pieces: understanding what agents do, and testing them before they go live.
