Daytona Hits $1B: $60M Raise for AI Agent Cloud

Daytona raised a $60M Series B at a $1B valuation led by FirstMark to build AI agent cloud infrastructure, backed by the founders of Stripe, Shopify and Zoom.

Daytona, a San Francisco startup building cloud infrastructure for AI agents, has raised a $60 million Series B funding round at a $1 billion valuation. The new round makes the company, founded in 2023, a unicorn. The funding brings Daytona's total raised to about $91 million, as investors race to back the infrastructure layer behind the fast-growing AI agent boom.

A $1B bet on AI agents

AI agents are moving past answering questions to doing real work: writing code, browsing the web, running business software and completing complex tasks on their own. But every agent needs a safe, isolated computer to do that work in. That is what Daytona builds. Its platform spins up secure, isolated computing environments - called sandboxes - where agents can run code, use software tools and complete tasks without putting the rest of a company's systems at risk. The platform supports Linux, Windows and macOS, and resources can scale up or down depending on what each agent needs. FirstMark led the Series B round. Existing investors also doubled down: Pace Capital doubled its investment, Upfront Ventures tripled theirs, and E2VC quadrupled theirs.

Who wrote the checks

The round drew a star-studded list of tech founders. Participants included Stripe co-founder Patrick Collison, Shopify CEO Tobi Lutke, Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas, Quora founder Adam D'Angelo, Datadog CEO Olivier Pomel, Mercor co-founder Brendan Foody and Zoom founder Eric Yuan. Strategic investors joined too, including Qualcomm Ventures, Samsung Next and Okta Ventures, alongside Alumni Ventures, Evergreen Fund and Torch Capital.

The "agentic cloud" pitch

Daytona's argument is simple: software agents need somewhere to work, and the existing cloud was not built for them. The company calls its product the "agentic cloud" - a purpose-built platform for training, evaluating and running AI agents in production. The pitch has already attracted big names. Daytona says it provides infrastructure to Anthropic, OpenAI, NVIDIA, Cursor and Cognition, with Meta, Cohere, Mercor, Postman, n8n and others also using the platform. Customers use it to reduce processing times for AI training and evaluation, and the company reports its revenue run rate grew 25-fold between January and September. With the new funding, Daytona plans to expand beyond its initial sandbox product, scale its computing infrastructure and grow its international team, with hiring planned across San Francisco, Croatia and Singapore.

Why it matters

The raise is a strong signal that investors see the next wave of AI value in the infrastructure that powers agents, not just the models themselves. Daytona's 20-person technical team is based largely in Croatia, making it one of the country's newest unicorns. The real test now is scale: as AI agents move from experiments to everyday production tools, demand for fast, isolated computing environments will only grow, and Daytona has to keep up.
