Nvidia CEO Proposes Kazakhstan as Physical AI Hub

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang proposed making Kazakhstan a global hub for physical AI after meeting President Tokayev in Astana. Here is what the plan means.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has proposed turning Kazakhstan into a global hub for physical AI. He made the proposal during a meeting with President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in Astana on October 23, according to the Kazakh president's press service. Physical AI means AI that works in the real world, not just on a screen. It covers robots and machines that can see, move and act in factories, farms and other physical places. Huang said Kazakhstan has two things this new industry needs at its foundation: energy, and people dedicated to science, maths and technology.

Kazakhstan as an AI nation

Huang praised Tokayev's goal of turning Kazakhstan into a country focused on developing and widely using AI. Speaking at the Alem.ai centre in Astana, he said Kazakhstan was the first country he had visited where the president had declared AI development a national priority. He said that commitment could make AI a key driver of national development, helping Kazakh companies grow, compete globally and enter new international markets. He also described AI development as a technology-driven industrial revolution that would affect every person and every country. Tokayev thanked Huang for his contribution to Kazakhstan's AI ecosystem and said the visit would give fresh momentum to cooperation between the two sides. At the end of the meeting, Tokayev awarded Huang the Order of Dostyk (Order of Friendship), First Degree, for his contribution to developing AI in Kazakhstan.

The partnerships behind the proposal

Huang pointed to progress made over the past year through cooperation with Kazakh companies. He named partnerships with Firebird AI KZ Ltd and Kazakhtelecom, and said Nvidia is supporting Higgsfield, Kazakhstan's first technology unicorn. Higgsfield, an AI video company, has become a notable player in the global technology ecosystem, Huang said. He added that he was deeply impressed by what the partners had achieved together, and called it the beginning of a very long journey. A separate meeting was also held at Alem.ai with Kazakhstan's Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Minister Zhaslan Madiyev, underlining that the visit was about practical cooperation, not just a ceremonial stop.

Why this matters beyond Kazakhstan

The proposal shows how the AI race is spreading beyond the United States and China. Countries with energy, engineering talent and a clear national plan are now pitching themselves as homes for the next stage of AI: robots and physical systems, rather than chatbots alone. For Kazakhstan, the prize is a bigger role in the global AI industry, with stronger local expertise and more technology partnerships. For Nvidia, it is another partner country for its AI hardware and software, in a region where AI infrastructure is growing fast. The proposal is still just that: a proposal. No factory, funding figure or timetable was announced with it. What is clear is the direction both sides want to go, and that physical AI is now part of Kazakhstan's national pitch to the world.
